Two useful starting points

Review what is not working or make a pending investment safer.

You do not need to arrive with a technical answer. Bring me the business problem or software decision and I will help define the smallest useful consultancy step.

The operation is under pressure

Find what the current systems are making difficult.

Your team may be copying information, chasing approvals, working around old software or relying on spreadsheets that have become too important. I review the real operation and identify the smallest useful improvement.

A software decision needs confidence

Choose the right route before more budget is committed.

Your business may be comparing products, planning an integration, considering bespoke software or trying to recover a difficult project. I make the options, risks and practical next steps easier to judge.

Software consultancy support

Connect the software decision to business value and delivery reality.

Useful software advice must cover more than features and technology. I look at the operation, people, information, commercial priorities and responsibility that sit around the system, then turn the evidence into a decision your business can act on.

Business process review

Follow how work moves from request to completion and find where delays, repeated admin and unclear ownership are being introduced.

Software and spreadsheet review

Understand which tools remain useful, which have become fragile and where the business is paying people to bridge the gaps.

Software selection

Turn the real requirements into a practical way to compare suitable products instead of buying from a polished demonstration alone.

Buy, improve or build decisions

Compare configuration, integration, automation and bespoke development so the chosen route fits the value, risk and constraints.

Requirements and product direction

Clarify users, journeys, information, permissions and the first useful phase before a new portal or software product enters development.

Data and integration planning

Work out where trusted information should live and how existing systems can exchange it without repeated exports and retyping.

Delivery and supplier review

Make priorities, responsibilities, risks and acceptance clearer when an internal team or outside software supplier is delivering the work.

Prioritised improvement plan

Leave with an understandable order of work and a controlled first move rather than an oversized transformation programme.

A controlled consulting route

From software uncertainty to a clear first move.

Each stage answers a specific question and makes the reasoning visible. Decision-makers can see why an option is recommended before approving more work.

  1. 01

    Define the business question

Start with the operational pressure, software decision or project concern that the business needs to resolve.

  2. 02

    Understand the evidence

Speak with the people involved and review the workflows, systems, information and constraints behind the visible symptoms.

  3. 03

    Compare the sensible options

Assess what can stay, what should change and whether configuration, integration, automation or a new build is justified.

  4. 04

    Set the next move

Document the findings, priorities and recommended first step so decision-makers can approve it with clearer scope and risk.

Speak to Danny

Questions businesses usually ask.

What do software consulting services include?

Software consulting can include reviewing a difficult business process, assessing current systems and spreadsheets, clarifying software requirements, comparing products, planning integrations, reviewing a proposed build or deciding what should be improved first. The scope is based on the business question you need to answer, not a generic technology audit.

Do you provide software consulting services in Manchester?

Yes. I am based in Greater Manchester and work with businesses across Manchester, the wider city region and the United Kingdom. Most work can be delivered remotely, with on-site workshops, interviews and review sessions where meeting your team in person will improve the outcome.

Do you have a Manchester city-centre office?

No. I do not present a virtual or registered address as a staffed office. I work remotely and arrange suitable on-site sessions at your workplace across Manchester and Greater Manchester when the consultancy benefits from them.

What business problems can a software consultant help with?

Useful starting points include overloaded spreadsheets, duplicated data entry, disconnected systems, poor reporting, difficult hand-offs, repetitive admin, ageing software, unclear requirements and a software project that is consuming budget without a confident route forward.

Do we need to know which software we want?

No. Start with what is difficult, who is affected and what a useful improvement would change. I can then help decide whether the sensible route is to improve an existing tool, choose a product, connect systems, automate a stable task or design something bespoke.

Will you always recommend replacing our current software?

No. A replacement or bespoke build is not automatically the right answer. I first look for useful ways to configure, improve, connect or support what your business already has. New software is recommended only when the value and operating constraints justify the extra responsibility.

Can you review a software supplier or proposed project?

Yes. I can help clarify the requirements, responsibilities, delivery stages, risks and acceptance criteria around a proposed or active project. The purpose is to help your business ask better questions and make clearer decisions, not to create conflict with a suitable existing supplier.

What will we receive at the end of the consultancy?

The deliverable depends on the agreed question and scope. It can include mapped workflows, findings, requirements, risks, practical options, priorities and a recommended first phase. A wider review normally ends with a written report and a meeting to explain the reasoning and next decisions.

How long does software consultancy take?

A focused review of one process can normally be completed within a week. A wider operational systems review commonly takes two to three weeks. More stakeholders, workflows, locations, suppliers or regulatory concerns may require a larger agreed scope.

Can you design or build the solution after the review?

Yes, where I am the right fit. Consultancy and any later specification, prototype, integration, automation or software build remain separate decisions. The first engagement should still be useful if your business stops there or asks another suitable team to deliver the recommendation.
