What personal data is collected
Contact and enquiry details
Your name, business name, email address, phone number, the type of support you are interested in and anything you include in a message.
Communication records
Emails, call notes, LinkedIn messages or other correspondence if we discuss work, roles, projects or potential services.
Business contact and prospecting details
Your name, professional role, employer, business contact details, the public source of those details, the business reason you were selected and records of messages, replies and opt-out requests.
Technical and usage information
Basic information about how the website is used, such as pages viewed, IP address, browser or device information, approximate location, referrer and similar analytics information. When you submit an enquiry form, the submitted page URL, IP address and browser user-agent are recorded with the enquiry.
Client and project information
If we work together, I may process information needed to scope, deliver, invoice and manage the work. Any client-specific terms can be covered separately in a proposal, agreement or statement of work.

To identify and contact relevant representatives of UK corporate businesses about software consultancy and development that may reasonably relate to their professional role or an observable business need.
Lawful basis: Legitimate interests in developing business relationships and offering relevant services, after considering the necessity of the contact and its likely effect on the individual.
To run and improve the website
To understand which pages are useful, diagnose technical issues, protect the website and improve the content.
Lawful basis: Legitimate interests, and consent where analytics cookies or similar technologies require consent.
To meet legal and accounting duties
To keep records needed for tax, accounting, contracts, dispute handling or compliance.

Business-to-business outreach
I may use limited professional contact information to introduce relevant DanJMills services to a person acting in their business role. I select contacts because their role and an observable business situation suggest that the introduction may be relevant. I do not buy indiscriminate consumer marketing lists or use personal contact details for unrelated marketing.
Contact details may come from public company websites, Companies House, professional profiles such as LinkedIn, trade or membership directories, event or networking information, referrals and other legitimate public business sources. Where information was not collected directly from you, the outreach message will identify the source or source category and provide access to this privacy notice.
Unsolicited electronic outreach is limited to corporate subscribers such as limited companies and limited liability partnerships. Sole traders and other businesses treated as individual subscribers are not included unless valid consent or another applicable permission exists.
Every direct marketing message identifies me and provides a simple way to object. You can reply to the message or email [email protected] at any time. I will stop direct marketing and retain only the limited information needed on a suppression list to respect your request in future.
How long data is kept
Enquiry and communication records are usually kept for up to 24 months after the last meaningful contact, unless we work together or there is a good reason to keep them longer.
Prospecting records used for business-to-business outreach are usually kept for up to 12 months from collection or the last meaningful contact, whichever is later. They may be removed sooner when they are no longer relevant. A minimal suppression record may be retained for longer so that an objection or opt-out is not accidentally overridden by a future contact list.
Client, contract, accounting and invoice records may be kept for longer where needed for legal, tax, accounting or dispute purposes. Analytics data is kept according to the settings and retention periods of the analytics provider.
Your data protection rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may have the following rights:
- Ask for a copy of personal data I hold about you.
- Ask for inaccurate data to be corrected.
- Ask for data to be deleted where the law allows.
- Ask for processing to be restricted in some circumstances.

I take reasonable steps to protect personal data, including using reputable service providers, limiting access to information and keeping records only for as long as needed. No website or email system can be guaranteed to be completely secure, so avoid sending highly sensitive information through the contact form or email unless we have agreed a suitable method.
Children
This website is aimed at businesses, founders, directors, recruiters and professional contacts. It is not aimed at children and I do not knowingly collect data from children through this site.
